Professional Beach
Volleyball Venue for West Palm Beach
-
It will
bring income into the city 2-3 times a year through
being on the professional circuits.
-
An
intramural type circuit can be created so that local
businesses and offices can form teams and compete
against each other.
-
Local Colleges
can utilize it to create a new PE curriculum or to
form a collegiate team.
-
Youth groups / underprivileged groups can utilize it
on a regular basis.
-
Local charitable organizations can hold charity
tournaments there.
OK, Atlanta and Louisville
are on the Professional Beach Volleyball Circuit........and
not West Palm Beach?!
SIGN
OUR PETITION OF SUPPORT to help get this great venue into West Palm
Beach.
Green Support
For The City
-
Green city owned
land with sustainable and xeroscape planting projects,
including large swaths of wildflower plantings.
-
Enhance existing
parks by building structures and planting new plants that
attract certain birds, butterflies and other wildlife
-
Help the city
maintain all green areas and waterfronts going forward
through volunteerism and private funding. This would include
securing these areas as best possible before hurricanes.
-
Help support
organizations that are doing environmental work
locally.
Future
Projects We Would Like To Accomplish or See Accomplished
-
a
CITY GARDEN that can grow vegetables and fruits (maintained
by volunteers) to distribute to organizations that feed
the local homeless.
-
a state of
the art
DOG PARK
-
a
SHARED BIKE
PROGRAM / drop off & pickup facilities.
-
a proper and
safe
LAUNCH FOR
NON-MOTORIZED WATER VESSELS (kayaks and
canoes, etc.) at Currie Park or along another point of
Flagler Drive
-
a small
AMATEUR ARTS INSTALLATION / COMMUNITY PLAYHOUSE along
with low cost vendor shacks that can be leased out cheap
on a daily basis so that local artists and vendors can
display and sell local flair and so non-professional
actors (including those who have groups at the Cuillo
Theater and PBA) and musicians have a place to practice
and a place to put on free shows.
Other Ideas To Enhance The Community
1.
Connect opposite
sides of the city, NS, EW, SW, NE, etc. through
these greening/park efforts (as directional interims), bike
paths (and places to secure bikes), and intervening
destinations to encourage walking and biking for work,
leisure, and social destination by creating direction and
interest between point A & point B with as little resistance
as possible.
2. Create an
educational program that focuses on the local environment
(water, sea life, birds, wetlands, etc) that can be used by
local schools and children’s organizations and have local
non-profit organizations such as Reef Rescue and Grassy
Water’s Preserve, and Shake-A-Leg that are working with
nature and the environment to co-develop and publish the
program, submitting parts of the program within their
expertise. This is to create appreciation and conservation
of the local environment in our youngsters.
3. Form an ‘open
source’ community think tank and resource center to:
-
Promote
architectural design and color diversity, and green
building concepts downtown and create a forum to allow
the public to comment on future proposed building
projects in the downtown area.
-
Provide a
one stop place where people and organizations look for
and advertise volunteer work for the city, the WPBLGI,
for certain social needs, and for non-profits – an
organized efficient ‘posting board’ of sorts.
